Srinagar: AIP workers Thursday took out a protest march against coalition governments anti-Kashmir policy in Kulgam.
Heavy contingent of police was deployed there to stop the march from proceeding further and there was a scuffle between AIP supporters and police, reports said.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Er Rasheed repeated that Sainik colonies, composite townships, Industrial Policy and various other anti-Kashmir moves will be resisted at all costs and nobody will be allowed to change the Muslim character of the state or erode its special status.
He said, New Delhi is threatening Kashmiris on daily basis only because it has a very weak case to defend its relationship with J&K. Let people not give ear to rumours and behave like a nation and trust each other to fight the nefarious designs of Delhi.
He said that the response which people of Kulgam district have shown to todays programme has forced PDP to use police and other security agencies to foil the march but the brave hearted people of Kulgam turned in thousands to resist the designs.
By using force to foil the march, coalition government has accepted its defeat and it is proven that PDP is working like extension wing of RSS, he said.
Er Rasheed warned army to change its colonial attitude at Ashmuji and Nehama camps and alleged that the camps have made life of inhabitants miserable by seizing their vehicles and identity cards on and often and have been keeping them in their camps for operational purposes.
Er Rasheed asked district administration to end the army rule in the area or be prepared to face the resistance over the issue. Later Er Rasheed was held along with dozens of supporters and taken to police station Kulgam.
Those detained included Dr Abdul Bari Naik, Sajad Noorabadi, adv Mujeeb, Gowhar Khan, Mohammad Adil and Haji Mohammad Yousuf and were still detained in the police station till last reports.
