SRINAGAR: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Syed Basharat Bukhari today chaired a meeting of officers to review the status of Aadhar enrolment in the state.
The meeting discussed measures adopted in preparation of Aadhar cards and mechanism to check discrepancies in the enrolment process.
On the occasion, the concerned officials briefed the Minister that the population whose records were digitized by the census department is 10,213,518, while as total citizens enrolled till May 10, 2016 stands at 90, 46,692 which is 82.67 percent of the total population.
The Minister was also informed that till May 10, 2016 about 81, 17,999 Aadhar cards have been generated in the state.
During the meeting, the Minister directed that left out population should be brought under the coverage of Aadhar and efforts would be made to check the discrepancies in the whole process. The Minister was told that there is a proper mechanism to check duplication in the Aadhar enrolment, however, due to some software issues and the incorrect postal addresses registered for Adhaar enrolment, the process gets hindered, which is being corrected.
The Minister directed holding of meeting of IT and Postal department on 24th of this month to sort out software and postal address issues, so that the whole process is completed without any discrepancies.
Bukhari directed the concerned officials to rectify the discrepancies within a month and come up with a detailed project report.
