ANANTNAG: Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed today conducted inspection of National Highway to take stock of ongoing works.
The DDC accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner and officers of National Highway of authority of India and RAMKY visited villages of Damjan, Shoul-Wanpora, Pujteng, Marhama, Magalbagh and directed the executing agency to speed up the pace of works to meet the set deadlines .
Deputy Commissioner sought public cooperation in timely execution of the National Highway project. He said timely completion of the road is vital for progress and development of the people as a whole adding that the project will significantly ease the traffic jams and will cut short the journey.
DC Anantnag for better traffic management, safety of citizens
Anantnag: Safety of citizens and traffic management in Anantnag Town is the first priority of the district administration Anantnag and deviation from traffic rules shall not be tolerated at any cost.
This was stated by District Development Commissioner, Anantnag Syed Abid Rasheed while inspecting various areas of the Town today. The DDC during his visit was accompanied by SSP, Anantnag, Tehsildar, Anantnag, ARTO, Executive Officer, Muncipal Committee Anantnag, Food designated officer, Officers from Legal Metrology Department. During the inspection a fine of Rs 16000 was imposed on erring shopkeepers for encroachment. The DDC also visited General Bus Stand Anantnag, different coaching centers, SND Sumo stand near old SP Office, Sakhi Zaina-ud-Din WaliRA Sumo Stand, General Bus Stand and directed their presidents to submit authorization papers.
On the occasion, the various trade associations demanded for creation of additional parking slots, expansion of bus stand and creation of separate space for the Reda-Walas to regulate traffic in the town. DDC directed Tehsildar Anantnag and Executive Officer MC Anantnag to identify spot for Reda-Walas he also directed EO MC to remove encroachments on foot paths within a weeks time. (CNS)
