Srinagar: In a major anti-graft crackdown in the state vigilance organisation has launched an offensive against the officials and others involved in the corruption charges.
The organisation has registered a record number of cases related to graft in the previous year which has enabled the government to put a check on the corrupt practices in the government offices.
Top sources in the vigilance told KNS that the organisation has registered 98 cases in 2015 which was the highest during last ten years. He said that in during the first three months of the current year nearly 21 cases involving many officials have been registered .He said the organisation has been able to secure 11 convictions against the 12 erring officers and officials last year. During the same period the organisation Produced chalans in 39 cases whereas prosecution sanction was pending for another 30 cases.Meanwhile Director Vigilance Alok Puri told KNS that the organisation has produced final report in the court of law in five cases and two cases have been referred for departmental action during last year.
As of now 227 cases are under investigation. Out of these, 20 cases at various stages have been stayed by Honble High court and efforts are being to vacate the stay. Puri told KNS. He added that investigation has been completed in 30 cases and are being processed for accord of sanction and remaining 117 cases are under investigation. (KNS)
