Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik on Thursday said that a nation cannot be enslaved in the name of development.
In a statement issued to KNS, Malik said that if any nations enslavement could have been prolonged or fixed by rhetoric of peace and development, majority of nations including India would have still been reeling under slavery.
Malik was responding to the statement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He said that talking peace and development is good but no nation could be permanently asked to remain slave in this name because this is against the basic human ethics and nature.
Malik said that asking a nation to tolerate attacks on its self-respect, freedom, human rights and other things in the name of peace, progress and development is not endurable as it is against the human instinct of honor and self-respect.
While referring to MK Ghandi, Malik said, Once British viceroy asked Ghandi jee that if India will be free from British occupation it will lose its progress and prosperity as it were British who developed India and made it prosperous and it is only them who could ensure its development. Ghandi Jees reply was that he will choose a weak and fragile free government of his own over prosperous and wealthy rule of outsiders.
Malik said that their reply to Modi is same that progress and prosperity will come and go but we Kashmiris will not surrender our pride and sacrifices for these worldly things. Poverty is acceptable to us but we will not bear slavery and occupation, said Malik.
He said that Modi should understand the fact that all roads towards peace and prosperity go through resolution of Jammu Kashmir issue and if Modi wants south Asia, India , Kashmir etc to progress he should have courage to resolve Kashmir issue according to the wishes, sacrifices ,struggle and aspiration of people of Jammu Kashmir .
While condemning the anti-Kashmiri attitude of Indian media, Malik said that such is the bias of this media that they have started dubbing killing of five innocent Kashmiris at Kupwara as a consequence of unemployment. This is actually a ploy to divert attention from brutal killings by Indian forces and this ugly propaganda has been running from last three decades now, said Malik.
Malik said that the educated, well settled and efficient young ones are laying their lives for a just cause and this propaganda has and will never succeed in defeating our spirit and passion for seeking freedom.
Meanwhile, Malik along with other JKLF leaders Noor Muhammad Kalwal, Showkat Ahmad Bakhshi, Mushtaq Ajmal, Bashir Kashmiri, Zahoor Ahmad Butt, Rafiq Ahmad War etc were released from police custody last night.
Meanwhile JKLF leader Zahoor Ahmad Butt today led a delegation comprising of Rafiq Ahmad Waar, Farooq Ahmad Dar and Javed Ahmad Butt and visited Handwara /Kupwara. Delegation went to residences of all recent five martyrs and met with their bereaved families and expressed condolences with them.
Also JKLF Vice Chairman, Advocate Basher Ahmad Butt is still under house arrest and though other JKLF leaders have been released Butt still remains under police custody. JKLF strongly condemns his arrest. (KNS)
