Srinagar: The students of Kashmir University Monday staged protests in the campus premises against the killings of five persons including a woman in Kupwara district According to eye-witnesses, the varsity students in large number assembled outside the humanities block and staged demonstration against the Kupwara killings by forces during protests.
The students chanted pro-freedom slogans and also against the forces and government.
The students were demanding stern action against the forces. The force personnels are involved in the killings of five Kupwara civilians should be dealt with strictly, the students demand during protest in the varsity campus.
Meanwhile, Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) students also held protest against the five civilian killings in Kupwara district.
The students assembled near the academic block, holding placards displaying Stop Civilian killings, punish the guilty.
The students according to reports tried to take the protest rally outside the varsity campus and march towards the Srinagar-Jammu national highway. Nonetheless, the students were stopped by the forces deployed at the campus.
The students later warned of nonstop protests if the authorities will not punish the guilty.
Three persons including a woman were killed on Tuesday in army firing during the protests against an alleged molestation of a minor girl by an army man in Handwara town while two more youth were killed on Wednesday and Friday respectively during the protests following the killings of three persons in the district.
