Srinagar: Special DG CRPF S.K.Bhagat Saturday said that militants get support and shelter in North and South Kashmir. He said militants who manage to infiltrate in this part of Kashmir either visit North or South Kashmir.
On the side lines of function at Humhama, S.K.Bhagat told CNS that militancy in Kashmir has declined, however, he added that the number of local militant is much more than foreign militants in Kashmir. The figures suggest that local militants have outnumbered the non-local militants. There are young elements here who join militancy without knowing the repercussions. I can say, they do it under the influence of romanticism full of emotions. We must create such an environment that the potential of such teens could be used for the betterment of the nations, he said.
Responding to question, Special DG CRPF said youth in Kashmir swayed in emotions after militant commander Burhan Wani started appearing on social media sites, uploading the photographs with his companions. In one of the photographs, uploaded by Burhan that showed a group of nine militants, five of them have been neutralized so far. Security Forces have managed to achieve great success against militants due to effective intelligence network, he said.
To a question, Bhagat said that CRPF always works under the command of local police. At NIT, we were deployed under the command of local police. We did our job objectively and in a neutral manner. There is effective coordination between all the security agencies, he said. (CNS)
