Srinagar: Truckers in Khrew Pampore who are on strike from past 46 days Friday declared that they will not allow SRTC vehicles to load and unload cement from the factories in the area.
Hundreds of people including females held a massive protest in the area said that villagers had purchased the trucks on finance with a hope they will earn a living by associating themselves with the Cement factories.
The interest on the loan is accruing every day, while we are earning nothing. In a bid to sideline us from the cement business, the factory owners have been trying to use SRTC trucks and for this purpose they are misleading the government, the loaders, cleaners and truckers who were part of the protest told local news agency.
According to Local News Agency, CNS, Some of the agitated truckers draped in shrouds threatened that if SRTC vehicles continue to visit cement factories, they will target them. The agitated protesters blocked the road and blamed the cement factories for the mess.
These cement factories are not doing any good for us even as they had promised hospitals and clean drinking water under CSR. These Cement factories only know how to exploit people for their personal gains, the protesters said and appealed administration to be impartial and impress upon cement owners to stop exploiting poor truckers.
