Srinagar : To provide Soil analysis to farmers of Kashmir Division at their doorsteps, Director Agriculture Kashmir Showkat Ahmad Beig, today inaugurated two Mobile Soil Testing Laboratories in presence of senior officers of the department and a group of farmers at Lalmandi Srinagar.
Commissioner Secretary Agriculture Production Department Mohammad Ashraf Bukhari was informed through video conferencing that two soil testing vans were purchased at a cost of Rs. 45 lakhs each under National Mission on Sustainable Agriculture (NMSA). These Mobile Labs are fully equipped with equipments like automatic absorption spectrophotometer with laptops, which can determine micro-nutrients, pH electric conductivity and N.P.K.
The mobile labs are having Grinder, Air Conditioner, Generator and GPS (Global Positioning System). The mobile vans can be utilized in different districts of valley, so that farmers can get their soil analysed and tested and get the soil health cards on spot at their door steps.
Commissioner Secretary APD hailed the efforts of Director Agriculture Kashmir for mobilizing the resources for procuring the two mobile soil testing vans to enhance the efficiency and capacity for soil testing by the farmers.
