SRINAGAR: As part of the ongoing SaMaPa Aalap Music Festival-2016, different music concerts were organized in Srinagar by the Sopori Academy of Music And Performing Arts today.
Santoor maestro Pandit Bhajan Sopori, Abhay Rustum Sopori, Munir Ahmad Mir, Kaiser Nizami and other artists enthralled the audience, mostly comprising students, with their performances at Tyndale-Biscoe and Mallinson Society Hall in city centre Lal Chowk.
Director Tourism Mehmood Ahmad Shah, Director Radio Kashmir Srinagar, Syed Humayun Kaiser, SDM Srinagar, Syed Mohammad Haneef Balkhi, Former ADG Doordarshan, Srinagar Dr. Rafique Masoodi present on the occasion.
In a similar kind of function organized Tagore Hall Srinagar artists from Chennai, Maharashtra, Delhi and local artists including Waheed Jeelani, Munir Mir, Shazia Bashir, Yousuf Naseem Guerazi, Gulzar Ganai and others mesmerized the audience by their stunning performances of Classical, Kashmiri, Sufi, Sheena and folk songs.
The festival is being conducted in collaboration with Divisional and District Administration, Department of Information & Public Relations, Department of Tourism, J&K Academy of Arts Culture Information and Languages, Radio Kashmir and Doordarshan Srinagar.
The festival commenced on March 16 and will conclude on March 26 during which 150 musicians will participate in around 16 different venues aimed at encouraging local talent in the state.
