Srinagar: Independent legislator Er Rasheed Saturday visited Eidgah Srinagar to offer solidarity with the agitating inhabitants who have been constantly demanding resolution of garbage issue which has made lives of thousands of inhabitants miserable due to foul smell and nuisance, Rasheeds spokesperson said in a statement.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion Er Rasheed condemned use of force against the protesters and assured his full support to the genuine cause. Rather than negotiating an amicable solution with the general public government is using state machinery to crush their voice, which is condemnable. Governor should have taken serious note of the grave problem and direct his administration to find some acceptable solution to the problem. Government owes a responsibility to the people that why all the measures taken till date to have a scientific disposal of the garbage or relocation of the dumping site couldnt be implemented. There is every reason to draw the conclusions that successive officers in the Urban Development Department have looted the money which was supposed to be spend over the project and due to failure and poor response of the administration people have been forced to take to streets.
