Srinagar: Several activists and leaders from Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Friday were detained by police after they staged a protest here against the frequent use of pellets and pepper gas on protesters across Kashmir Valley.
Scores of JKLF workers shortly after the culmination of Friday congregational prayers appeared outside Masjid Hamzah (RA) in Amirakadal. Carrying placards and banners that depicted the photographs of the youth injured or killed by pellets in Kahsmir, the protesters amid pro-freedom slogans demanded immediate ban on the use of these lethal weapons. The protesters also demanded the release of Prof SAR Geelani who has been booked by Delhi Police on charges of sedition.
Police swung into action and detained several protesting JKLF leaders. (CNS)
