Srinagar: Advisor to Governor Parvez Dewan on Friday visited various areas of Srinagar to identify a spot for developing Cheshm-e-Awami in the City.
In this connection, Dewan toured Ishber, Nishat, Brein and other adjoining where he inspected various scenic places in the foothills of Zabarwan. The proposed Cheshm-e-Awami (Public spring) to be funded by Union Ministry of Tourism will come up on the pattern of Chesm-e-Shahi (Royal Spring).
During the visit, Dewan directed the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar and Director Tourism to visit Khonmoh area of Srinagar to identify the spot so that the project is started as early as possible.
He said the development of the tourist places will increase the tourist influx to the valley which will generate employment avenues for the locals and uplift their socio-economic conditions.
Dewan was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr Farooq Ahmad Lone besides officials of Tourism and Revenue departments. (PTK)
