Rains lashed the plains of Jammu and Kashmir today while higher reaches received fresh snowfall, the weather office in Srinagar said.
“There has been fresh snowfall in all the higher reaches of the state during the last 12 hours while the plains received rainfall,” Sonam Lotus, director of the local Met department told IANS.
“We are expecting rain and snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir during the next 48 hours. The weather is likely to remain overcast for another four to five days with occasional rainfall and thunderstorms towards the afternoons during this period.”
Ms Lotus said there is no possibility of uninterrupted rainfall during this period thereby dispelling any fears of floods.
“The inclement weather is likely to be accompanied by intermittent rains and there is no reason to panic,” Ms Lotus added.
