SRINAGAR: The Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon, today held an officers meeting regarding the sanitation measures being taken in the valley and observance of sanitation week scheduled from March 11 to March 16, 2016.
The meeting was attended by DC Srinagar and all Deputy Commissioners of Kashmir and Ladakh divisions via video conferencing, besides VC LAWDA, DSEK, Dy Director Tourism, CEOs of Srinagar & Pahalgam Development Authorities, Director ULB, SE Hydraulics, officers of SMC and other concerned officers.
The Divisional Commissioner stressed the need to create awareness to avoid polythene littering and inculcating cleanliness values particularly among school children.
He directed DCs to initiate measures to clean water tanks, waterways, reservoirs and other potable water places so as to avoid any water borne diseases in their respective districts.
He also directed the officers of SMC to provide quality dustbins to people so as to segregate waste types and place collection bins at places where it hasnt been installed yet. The Divisional Commissioner also directed SMC officers to use proper waste disposal methods.
The Deputy Commissioners briefed the Div Com about steps being taken to observe sanitation week in their respective districts.
