JAMMU: The Department of Fisheries today conducted special sale of fish on the occasion of Mahashivratri festival.
The main purpose of the sale of fish through department is to provide fresh fish in hygienic condition to the people. Fishes from the Fish Farm Dumi, RFFDA Ghoumanhasan, NFSF Kathua were transported early morning through refrigerated vans to the places identified for the sale of fish. The main locations covered for special Sale of Fish were Jagati Nagrota, Purkhoo, Buta Nagar, Muthi, Durga Nagar, Tawi Vihar Sidhra etc. A large number of people from the area visited the outlets organised by the Department of Fisheries for purchasing the fish on the occasion of Mahashivratri.
About 25 quintals of fish of various varieties was supplied at these specified locations. In addition to this, the Fish Stock was also kept available at Government Fish farms and Private fish culture units. Besides facilitating the private fish farmers to sell their produce at Migrant Camps, the Department of Fisheries has ensured the supply of fish on Mahashivratri festival.
Moreover, the sale of fish will continue on March 5 also.
