Srinagar: Lashing the Union Budget, Ghulam Nabi Malik, General Secretary, JK Kisan Tahrik Tuesday said that the BJP led government has failed the people of the country by presenting the budget which has nothing to offer to the common man.
In a statement issued to KNS, Malik said that every section of the society including farmers, growers, workers of unorganized sector, scheme workers like ASHAs, MDM, Anganwadi workers have been ignored in the budget. More than 70% of our population is dependent of agriculture, but no substantial provision has been kept for the sector, adding that more than 2 lac farmers have committed suicides since the implementation of neo-liberal economic policies in nineties, the trend of which is increasing in states like Maharashtra after the takeover of the BJP-led state government, Malik said.
He said that no mention has been made for relief and rehabilitation measures for the victims of September, 2014 devastating floods killing more than 300 people, damaging thousands of residential houses, damaging agriculture/horticulture crops, government infrastructure including schools, bridges, roads, irrigation khuls etc. he said.
The union budget reflects that it has been prepared keeping in mind the interests of the big business houses and ignoring the marginal sections of the society including poor and down-trodden, he said.
