Srinagar: Saaya Charitable Society comprising of law students of Kashmir University held an essay competition on the topic Understanding Drug Use, Drug Abuse and Addiction. Competition was held among the students of class 8th and 10th of Encarta Plus Tutorials.
Award distribution ceremony was held on Monday here. SHO Bemina Majid Ahmed was the chief guest on the occasion. He interacted with students of Encarta plus Tutorial Qammerwari and distributed prizes among the position holders. SHO Bemina told the students whenever they find any drug abuse; one should contact the nearest police station or call on 100.
Renowned psychiatrist Dr.Waris Ali of psychiatry hospital Rainawari highlighted in his speech the consequences of drug abuse and the difficulties addicts experience. He said that drugs abuse should be managed and it is for the young mindsets to come forward and propagate the message to common masses.
Mukhtiar Zargar co-ordinator of Encarta Plus Tutorials also delivered his valuable lecture said that the drugs are a menace for humanity and it is pity that people of all ages are fast becoming victims of drug addiction which is causing a lot of damage to their health and in many cases leading to death.
The event started with welcome address by Hasnain Khawaja (President Saaya Charitable Society).
The programme ended with vote of thanks extended from Naveed Bukhtiyar General Secretary of Saaya Charitable Society. (CNS)
