SRINAGAR: Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon accompanied by Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar Tuesday inaugurated plantation drive by planting a Deodar tree at Hariparbat, Srinagar. He also planted a tree at Shanker Achariya in Zabarwan hills.
Besides, Director School Education Kashmir, Dr Shah Faesal, SDM Srinagar, Syed Mohammad Hanief Balkhi, Conservator Forests, DFO Urban, Range officers, NGO members and Volunteers were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the Divisional Commissioner stressed upon one and all to put in concerted efforts to give Kashmir valley green cover by planting more and more trees so that pristine glory of valley is restored besides environmental and ecological balance is protected and preserved. He enjoined upon the concerned officers to ensure plantation at all available spaces across the valley to make Kashmir green and clean to ensure healthy and hygienic environment in surroundings.
On the occasion, the Divisional Commissioner was informed that plantation drive has been started across the valley and about 20 lakh plants of different species will be planted in all the districts.
The Divisional Commissioner also inspected various nurseries of Forest Department at Kralsangri.
On the occasion, The Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Director School Education also planted trees.
