BUDGAM: District Development Commissioner Budgam Mir Altaf Ahmad today asked people of the district to verify their ration lists and approach the concerned officers to report any discrepancy so as to ensure precision and transparency in the categorization of National Food Security Act (NFSA) ration lists.
The DDC said that ration lists as per the provisions of recently implemented NFSA have been made available at sale deposits in every part of the district.
During the meeting the District Development Commissioner directed storekeepers to not make any correction at their own level and asked people to approach Tehsildar, TSO or AD CA&PD to report any discrepancy.
As per the provisions of NFSA there are three categories namely AAY, in which ration will be given to families at the scale of 35 Kgs per month at Rs 3 per kg rice. While as in the priority household category people will get 5 Kgs of rice per soul per month at Rs 3 per kg and under the non priority house hold category rice will be available at Rs 10 per kg per soul.
Meanwhile the District Development Commissioner was informed that the department of CAPD has enough stock of ration available for distribution. It was given out that since the introduction of NFSA the district will receive 37000 quintals of ration to fed 7.19 lakh souls, which prior to NFSA implementation was 34000 quintals for 6.10 lakhs souls.
