karnah: Residents of Karnah in northern district of Kupwara Thursday continued their protests against the National Food Security Law in the state.
The residents have called for LoC Chalo to protest against the government which had decided to implement the food law and had distributed the ration in some districts.
We have called for Teetwal Chalo (LoC cahlo) and all the residents in the region will reach the LoC to seek help from residents and the administration in Muzaffarabad, the residents told KNS over phone.
The agitated residents attempted to cross over the Line of Control by cutting the barbed fencing, seeking ration from Pakistan Administrated Kashmir.
We want to go to Pakistan because the government by implementing the food law is starving us. Where from will we bring rice and atta for our meals. This is a mountainous area and paddy is not grown here. If our ration is scaled down, we will starve, the residents had told KNS on Wednesday.
Sub District Magistrate, Karnah, Shabir-ul-Hassan told KNS that the administration has conveyed the demands of the agitating people to the higher authorities.
We tried to pacify them and have conveyed their demands to the higher ups in the government. But some people are exploiting their sentiments and are provoking them for protests, the SDM said. (KNS)
