Srinagar: Residents in Karnah in frontier district of Kupwara Wednesday attempted to cross over the Line of Control by cutting the barbed fencing, seeking ration from Pakistan Administrated Kashmir.
Residents in Amruhi, Sadpora and Teetwal tried to cut the fence and attempted to cross over for food grains.
We want to go to Pakistan because the government by implementing the food law is starving us. Where from will be bring rice and atta for our meals. This is a mountainous area and paddy is not grown here. If our ration is scaled down, we will starve, the residents said.
Asked why they wanted to cut the fence and cross over, the agitated residents said that the local government and the Government in New Delhi led by PM Narendra Modi have cut short their meals.
We dont think we will survive on the ration that we will get as per the food law. So, we thought that moving to Pakistan will save us, the residents said.
