SRINAGAR: In his maiden interaction with Governor NN Vohra after the imposition of the Governor rule in the state, the Kashmir Economic Alliance Chairman Haji Mohammad Yasin Khan who is also the President of Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation, sought immediate implementation of three-point agenda, including end to rights abuse, safety of Kashmiri students living in other states and rehabilitation of the flood-hit traders.
Khan started his interaction with the Governor by condemning the recent civilian killings in Pulwama adding that Vohra must ensure end to this unending cycle of rights of abuse.
You are the face of New Delhi in Kashmir and by virtue of this you must bring end to this rights abuse, be strict with the offenders and initiate am impartial probe which serves deterrent for such heinous acts, Khan said.
Referring to the ongoing controversy in the JNU, Khan said he fears that the non Kashmiri students linked to the case might be exonerated only to book Kashmiri students.
The ongoing controversy seems to be a part of RSS game plan to finally tighten noose around Kashmiri students studying in various Indian states. Theres a dire need of your intervention so that our children studying outside are safe, Khan said.
Talking in details about the much-needed rehabilitation the flood hit traders, Khan regretted the delay and deceit as adopted by the government from time to time.
The Rs 800 package as announced by the New Delhi is insult to our injury. This is even not peanuts. Our business community suffered losses worth over Rs 35,000 crores You were Governor at the time when the Omar Abdullah government had drafted a demand of Rs 44,000 Crore. All proved a joke for us, Khan said.
Apart from extension of moratorium period as needed by the business community particularly traders, Khan said even the release of Rs 120 crores from the Chief Ministers relief fund as was promised by the then CM late Mufti Mohammed Sayeed was pending.
Khan reiterated that KTMF and the KEA was committed to the cause of decent rehabilitation of the flood hit traders and that the business community would fight for their rights tooth and nail.
Khan said the Governor assured that all the issues as discussed would be resolved adding that the pending amount of 120 crores would be released without any delay. (KNS)
