Srinagar: The 19th meeting of the University Building Committee (UBC) of the Central University of Kashmir (CUK) was held at Nowgam-II academic block of the University with Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir in chair.
According to a statement issued to KNS, The meeting was attended by former Chief Engineer, Muhammad Amin Nowsheri, former Chief Architect, Muneer Ahmad Khan, Registrar, Prof. M Afzal Zargar, Controller of Examinations, Dr. Nazir Ahmad Gilkar, DSW Director, Dr. Fayaz Ahmad Nikka, Department of Tourism, Assistant Professor, Ashiq Hussain Najar, NIT Professor, Prof. Abdul Rashid Dar, former NIT Professor, Prof. G A Wani, Executive Engineer, CUK, Nissar Ahmad Pandit, M/s CP Kukreja representative and Chief Architect, Dikshu Kukreja, M/s CP Kukreja representatives S K Nandi and Om Prakash, NBCC General Manager, Muhammad Rafi, Executive Engineer, R&B Ganderbal, Showkat Jeelani Pandit and Consultant Engineer, CUK, Muzaffar Ahmad Banday.
Addressing the first meeting of the newly reconstituted UBC, Prof. Mehraj ud Din, expressed gratitude to the members of the previous Committee, especially Prof. A M Pathan, Ex.Vice-Chancellor, Central University of Karnataka and Prof. Ghulam Mohi-ud- Din Mir, Principal, SSM College of Engineering, for their unflinching support in the construction and development of the CUK at its permanent campus in Ganderbal. Prof. Mehraj ud Din said the newly constituted Committee has representatives from all the stakeholders including the faculty and experts from the field of construction and other related fields. He asked the members to contribute proactively in the ongoing construction of the university campus and sought their active support and cooperation in this regard. The Vice-Chancellor asked the NBCC and PMC to expedite the work on the Pre Engineered Buildings so that academic activities of the University would be shifted to Ganderbal immediately. He asked the concerned agencies to remove the bottlenecks and ensure that the project is completed within the stipulated time.
He expressed gratitude to Honorable Governor, N N Vohra, former Chief Minister, Late Mufti Muhammad Sayeed, former Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah for their unflinching support in building the university at the permanent campus. Prof. Mehraj ud Din also expressed his gratitude to the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Dr. Asgar Samoon, district administration of Ganderbal for their support in the ongoing constructions.
Registrar, Prof. Afzal Zargar while welcoming the guests, gave a detailed view of the ongoing works. He said the university now has a full-fledged construction wing headed by the Executive Engineer, which is minutely monitoring the ongoing works. He asked the concerned agencies to work in unison and confront the difficulties if any in order to complete the project in a time bound manner.Controller of Examinations, Dr. Nazir Ahmad Gilkar, presented the vote of thanks.
