Condemning the sedition charges against the students and teachers of Jawahar Lal Nehru University (JNU), the JKLF chairman, Mohammad Yasin Malik on Saturday termed the administrative approach as undemocratic and an incidence of growing intolerance in India.
From last many years suppressing voices of dissent especially that of Kashmiris is worst kind of dictatorship, said Malik, who has been released on bail after seven days from centre jail, Srinagar.
Condemning the intimidating students and teachers of JNU and slapping charges of sedition on them, Malik said, One time civil society movement and freedom of speech etc, used to be very strong and Kashmiris were invited by Indians to put their point of view before Indian people. But from last many years, this has changed and Kashmir enmity and intolerance is increasing day by day.
As per a party statement, Malik has also said, Today situation is such that students and teachers who staged protest against illegal and inhuman hanging of father of Kashmir nation Muhammad Maqbool Butt and martyr Muhammad Afzal Guru demanding their mortal remains to be handed over to Kashmiris are slapped with charges of sedition. And added, This act of rulers is intended to ruin the future of these students and a poly to suppress voices of dissent with force. Today raising voices against tyranny are termed as sedition while as Hindu fanatics are free to glorify even killing Ghandi Jee.
Malik has also criticized the criminal silence of International community and civil society over this growing intolerance and anti-Kashmir behaviour.
