Two Army personnel and four militants were killed, while two others were injured on Saturday in a gunfight between militants and security forces in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
“Two Army personnel and four militants were killed, while two others, including an officer, were injured in the encounter with militants in Marsari village of Chowkibal border area,” a senior police officer said.
“The house in which the militants were holed up has been destroyed in the operation.”
Security forces, including Rashtriya Rifles (RR), Special Operations Group (SOG) of state police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) surrounded a house in Marsari village last evening on information that a group of militants were hiding there.
When the security forces closed in on the house, the militants opened fire.
