SRINAGAR: Ahead of Madhav, Mehbooba meeting, BJP high command held a high level meet with its state unit, appraising it about the latest developments with regard to the month-long deadlock over the government formation in Jammu and Kashmir.
Sources divulged that the former deputy chief minister Dr Nirmal Singh and other senior leaders of the state BJP participated in the meeting that was held in New Delhi on Thursday to discuss the ongoing political scenario and partys alliance with the PDP.
Reports informed that ahead of BJP general secretary and party chief Amit Shahs close aid Ram Madhav meeting the PDP president Mehbooba Mufti likely on February 13, the BJP high command held a closed door meet with its state unit at the head office in New Delhi.
Sources divulged that the feedback from the state unit was sought from the BJP with former deputy chief minister Dr Nirmal Singh heading the state leaders.
Earlier, the top leadership of the BJP and the PDP in the state had held a closed door meeting at Jammu on Wednesday wherein the modalities, as per sources, for the new government formation were finalised.
Naeem Akhtar, Dr Nirmal Singh, Bali Bhagat, Syed Altaf Bukhari and Peerzada Mansoor reportedly attended the meeting.
Though the meeting was downplayed by both the parties, saying it was an apolitical one but highly placed sources reveal that the modalities of the new alliance are being discussed at threadbare.
The PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti, after her fathers demise had set conditions for becoming the part of the new government, pitching for the JK specific CBMs from New Delhi.
BJP ready to offer more finances to J&K
BJP sources say that the party is ready to offer a better financial package for the state. Mehbooba has demanded that more financial aid from the centre must reach the state. Madhav could tell Mehbooba to visit Delhi and hold talks with the party president, Amit Shah on this aspect as well.
While the central leadership of the party is keen on continuing with the alliance there are some reservations from the state unit of the party. The state leaders feel that since their primary vote bank lies in Jammu, it should not appear that the BJP is giving away too much to the PDP.
Issues such as talks with separatists must not be brought to the talking table at all, BJP leaders in the state say.
