SRINAGAR: The Dal dwellers who boycotted a meeting called by authorities on Friday demanded that they should be rehabilitated at Chandpora Harwan. Rakh Aarth colony is not fit for living as it lacks basic amenities. We request the Governor of the State to allot Chandpora land for our rehabilitation, the Dal dwellers said while staging a protest at Karpora Dal.
They further demanded that the rates for compensation for land mass/nadroo land have been determined few years ago since then inflation has taken place considerably and thus present market rates should be considered for the land acquired by the government.
If fast track shifting of Dal Dwellers is not possible then we should be allowed to construct and renovate our dilapidated structures, they said and added that Dal Dwellers should be rehabilitated in a time bound manner.
When contacted Vice Chairman LAWDA Sarmad Hafiz told CNS that Rakh-e-Arth colony is an approved one where Dal Dwellers can avail all the basic amenities and facilities. Government has no such policy to shift Dal Dwellers from Rakh-e-Arth colony to Chandpora. (CNS)
