SRINAGAR: Director Technical Education has issued a circular by which Polytechnic Academic Arrangements will not be entitled for any salary during their winter or summer vacation, an order that was termed by All J&K Polytechnic Academic Arrangement Association as dictatorial one.
During a protest here in Press Enclave Srinagar the employees posted in Technical Education Department run Polytechnic colleges alleged that they were forced to go on winter and summer vacation without any salary. Director Technical Education recently issued this circular vide order number DTE/Lit/250/879-950 dated January 4, 2016. This is grave injustice towards us. We joined the department some 18 years ago and no such clause and condition was mentioned in their engagement orders issued by the department, president Polytechnic Academic Arrangements Association Shahnawaz Qadir told CNS.
The protesters said that despite pleading with folded hands before the top authorities, the circular was not revoked. Why this injustice towards us when the same Academic Arrangements in Higher Education Department of the state are being given winter and summer vacations with salary, they said adding that 80 per cent teaching staff in all the polytechnics of the state are on Academic Arrangement basis.
