Shopian: Three forest employees were injured in the attack by fire wood smugglers in Karewa Zawoora forests falling under forest division Shopian on Thursday Night.
Sources told Kashmir observer that on the specific information, DFO Shopian Feroz Ahmad Chaket under the supervision of BO control room laid a naka at Zawoora and after half an hour party intercepted few horses loaded with green firewood.
The smugglers were readying to take away the stacked fire wood when the forest officials surrounded them and asked them to surrender.
The smugglers, however, attacked the forest officials with axes and stones, resulting into injuries of three forest officials identified as Mohd. Shafi, Imtiyaz Ahmad and Shabir Ahmad and a complete damage to vehicle of forest department (bearing registration number JK22 1447).
Meanwhile the officials seized large quantity of fire wood On spot and arrested one smuggler Namely Imtiyaz Ahmad Khan R/o Karewa Zowoora. On the basis of a complaint, Shopian police registered a case FIR No. 04/2016 against 7 persons in police station Shopian.
