SRINAGAR: Terming the complete shutdown in Jammu & Kashmir on Republic Day of India as a clear referendum against the forced military occupation, All Parties Hurriyat Conference (G) Tuesday stated in clear terms that till last single Indian solider is present on the soil of this state, the Kashmiris will continue their freedom struggle in any way and at any cost.
Thanking people of the state for observing complete shutdown, Hurriyat Conference (G) said, India has right to call itself a democratic country and to celebrate Republic day only when this country will accept the pure democratic demands of the Kashmiri nation and will fulfil its promise of holding a free and fair referendum here and will respect the choice of the people.
Hurriyat (G) in its statement said, the unprecedented security arrangements in the backdrop of 26 January and mass harassment of the general public in the name of security checking on every road and corner of the entire state clearly indicates that India is occupying this state just with the help of its military might. Every Kashmiri is a suspect in their eyes and the Indian rulers know this fact that the people of this state will in no way part with them. The way the people everywhere in Kashmir stayed indoor and the roads and market places in the towns, villages and cities of Kashmir wore a deserted look, was a clear and open message for the world community and the India itself that which side are the people of Kashmir and what they really want?
The Hurriyat amalgam said, the Indian rulers should shun their rigidity and stubbornness and accept the people decision. It will be better for India itself and the people of this country and it will also help us in ending the prevailing political uncertainty and instability in the entire South Asian region.
Hurriyat reiterated its stand that the Kashmiri people are not against India or its people but until this country will provide the Kashmiri nation their democratic and birth rights, till then it has no moral rights to celebrate its republic day in Jammu & Kashmir and calling itself a biggest democratic country in the world does not suits them.
Reiterating its call for complete shutdown in Kupwara town on 27 January and organizing special prayers on the days in the memory of 27 January 1994 Kupwara bloodshed, Hurriyat Conference (g) said, the great nations never forget their martyrs and the best way of paying them tributes is that we should carry forward their mission.
Demanding an impartial investigation by some independent agency into all the massacres in Kashmir including the Kupwara bloodshed, the Hurriyat said, until the Indian armed forces personals involved in the murder of the innocent Kashmiri people are put to task, the lives of the common people will continue to play in danger and the massacres will continue to occur in this troubled region.
