SRINAGAR: Terming the silence exhibited by the international community and human rights organizations over the numerous massacres in Kashmir as unfortunate, Hurriyat (M) Thursday paid glowing tributes to the martyrs of Gaw Kadal massacre on their 26th martyrdom anniversary.
Expressing astonishment that though the Indian forces were involved in various massacres in Kashmir including Gaw Kadal, Hawal, Sopore, Handwara, Kupwara and Chatti Singhpora, the conglomerate said people involved in these massacres were never apprehended and brought to justice.
Urging the human rights organizations and international community to take notice of this fact, the amalgam said these massacres were clear examples of atrocities, oppression and suppression carried by Indian forces on the people of Kashmir.
Leading a protest march on the occasion of 26th anniversary of Gaw Kadal massacre, senior Hurriyat (M) leader Engineer Hilal Ahmad War appealed the international community to take strong notice of the atrocities and human rights violations being committed on Kashmiri people by Indian forces and raise voice against it by using their influence for helping in the resolution of the long-standing Kashmir issue as per the wishes and aspirations of people of Jammu Kashmir.
Meanwhile, continuing with people-to-people contact programme of Hurriyat (M), senior Hurriyat leaders Muhammad Musadiq Adil, Ghulam Nabi Zaki, Abdul Majeed Wani, Ghulam Hassan Mir and Jaffar Kashmiri visited many areas of north Kashmirs Baramulla district including Haigam and Habbak Arampora while another senior Hurriyat leader Mukhtar Ahmad Waza visited south Kashmirs Islamabad, Kulgam and Pulwama districts and addressed many public delegations and worker conventions.
Addressing these gatherings, the Hurriyat (M) leaders informed the people about the efforts the conglomerate was making both at the political and diplomatic levels for the resolution of Kashmir issue.
Stressing that Kashmiri people had been offering great sacrifices for their right to self-determination for the past seven decades and the international community had accepted the disputed nature of Kashmir issue, the Hurriyat leaders said a long-lasting resolution of Kashmir and peace and prosperity of South Asia could be achieved only after resolving the issue as per the wishes and aspirations of the people of Jammu Kashmir.
