PULWAMA: The workers of MLA Langate Er Rasheed and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) exchanged blows during the formers sit-in at Pulwama on Thursday.
According to the eye witnesses, Rasheed got better of BJP activists when they tried to catch hold of the independent legislator during a sit-in outside the Deputy Commissioners office in Pulwama.
The BJP workers were thrashed by supporters of Rasheed, said an eye-witness.
The BJP activists, he said, accused Rasheed of being an agent of Pakistan.
However, cops deployed at the venue prevented the warring parties from injuring one another.
The sit-in was organized to protest the killing of a civilian in firing by forces during a demonstration in Naina Batpora village of the district.
BJP has condemned what it termed as an assault on its party workers and demanded registration of FIR against Rasheed for displaying posters depicting Modi Jis photos with blood drops.
BJP media in-charge Kashmir Altaf Thakur said: We demand an FIR be registered against MLA (Rasheed) for his misbehavior and character assassination of PM, Thakur said in a press release.
