SRINAGAR: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon, today stressed upon raising massive awareness about the importance of conservation of historical monuments in the region for the larger interest of posterity.
Chairing a meeting attended by Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Superintending Archaeologist, Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), Srinagar Circle, Deputy Director, Archives, Archaeology & Museum Kashmir, Srinagar, the Divisional Commissioner exhorted upon the need of conserving and protecting historical monuments for the posterity.
Directing the concerned agencies to install hoardings and boards near the monuments and historical places with complete details and description of these destinations, the Div Com said that this will help the people know their cultural and traditional background besides promoting the historical importance of the regions. He also asked for optimum use of mass media for raising awareness about these historical monuments.
The Div Com asked the concerned officers to make sure that written literature containing information regarding these historical monuments should be made available at airport and other relevant places so that the visitors as well as general public get complete awareness about our civilization and culture.
He also asked the authorities for the proper maintenance of the museum.
