JAMMU: Kavinder Gupta who was the Assembly Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir before N N Vohra imposed Governors rule, has said that the Budget Session called by the previous government stands cancelled as of now, and added that a decision in this regard would be made only after discussion with the new Chief Minister. “I don’t think Budget Session will commence on schedule. Any decision on the Session will be taken only after discussion with new Chief Minister’s swearing-in ceremony. I don’t think it is possible to have Assembly session from January 18,” Gupta said
“After the death of Mufti Mohammed Sayeed, the situation has been tense. We will form the government very soon” Even if there is a delay by a day or two, there will not be any problem,” he added.
Uncertainty over budget session of the Legislature, which had been called by previous Government headed by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed from January 18, has ended with cancellation of the session. The new budget session will now be called by the next Government after it assumes the office.
According to the provisional calendar issued by the Assembly Secretariat, there would be a 52-day-long Budget session with 36 sittings. Chief Minister Sayeed was scheduled to reply to debate on Motion of Thanks to Governor’s Address on January 21.
