Anantnag: A superintending engineer (SE) of Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department in this southern district is facing an inquiry for allegedly misbehaving with his female subordinate employee in his office.
Official reports said Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag, Muneer-ul-Islam had constituted an inquiry committee to probe into the allegations leveled against PHE SE by a female staffer in a letter submitted to him.
They said Additional District Development Commissioner Mohammad Younis was heading the one-man inquiry committee, which so far had examined four out of five eyewitnesses. The victim told Kashmir observer that on December 10 last year, the SE called her in his office where he allegedly told her to meet Chief Engineer, PHE, for staying her transfer order. “The moment I entered into his office, he informed me that I have been transferred. In presence of AEE and senior assistant, he told me to meet the PHE chief engineer to stay the transfer order,” she said, alleging the SE’s suggestion to meet the chief engineer was “suspicious”. She said earlier a contractor had told her the same thing.
“Earlier I had received a call from a person who identified himself as a contractor and told me to meet the chief engineer otherwise I will get transferred,” she alleged.
The women’s husband was also said to have spoken to the SE in his office in the regard and protested. Later, the victim submitted a written complaint to DC against the SE. But now the victim feels betrayed.
“At that time, DC assured me action would be taken within three days but now almost 20 days have passed, but investigation is heading nowhere,” she said. When contacted, additional DC, Anantnag, Mohammad Younis said four witnesses, including AEE and senior assistant, have so far recorded their statements.
He assured that investigation into the case would be completed within the next couple of days. Meanwhile, sources claimed that the ADC has asked the SE to present himself before the inquiry committee on Wednesday at 11 am.
