Kupwara: The family members of two army potters who were seriously injured in a land mine explosion in Keran sector of North Kashmirs Kupwara district on Sunday evening accused 22 Grenadier Unit of Army of negligenc.
Parvez Ahmad Mir son of Mangta Mir of Karen and Abdul Majeed Mir son of Lateef Mir of Karen Bala were seriously injured in a mine explosion. Both were working as potters for Army. It is the sheer negligence of the Army that did not inform Parvez and Majeed and allowed them to carry fencing work in mine field, the family members said.
They alleged that both the potters were deliberately dragged towards the mine field. Parvez has lost his right leg while Majeed has also received wounds. We appeal Army authorities to take cognizance of the matter and initiate action against the erring army officers from 22 Grenadier Unit of Army, they said.
Abdul Majeed is survived by six children and wife. Parvaiz Ahmad is survived by his wife and two children.
