Muzaffarabad: Pakistan President Mamnoon Hussain condemned the Pathankot terror attack but also raked up the Kashmir issue, calling it an unfinished agenda of the Partition. He also said that Pakistan will continue extending support to Kashmiris.
Speaking with a delegation from Pakistan-controlled- Kashmir (PcK) in Islamabad on Tuesday, the Paksitani president said that the country was against all forms of terrorism.
“Pakistan condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations including the incident at Pathankot,” Hussain said, according to the official statement.
Hussain reportedly said that “the support for the right of self- determination for Kashmiri people is the basic principle of Pakistan’s foreign policy.”
“Pakistan would continue supporting the right of self-determination of Kashmiris because Pakistan considers Kashmir as an unfinished agenda of the partition of the subcontinent,” he said on Tuesday.
Hussain also invoked Pakistan founder Muhammad Ali Jinnah, citing that he said “the letter ‘K’ in Pakistan denotes Kashmir and Pakistan is incomplete without Kashmir,” according to the official press release.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Minister for Kashmir Affairs Barjees Tahir has said the transparent and impartial plebiscite is the only way for resolution of Kashmir dispute.
Talking to a Kashmiri delegation in Islamabad on Tuesday, he regretted the non-implementation of UN resolutions on Kashmir, Radio Pakistan said.
He said Pakistan wants to resolve this issue with India through dialogue, the report quoted Barjees as saying.
