Anantnag: Students from various coaching centers in Anantnag held a protest against the ban on private tuition by government teachers in Anantnag.
Students shouted anti administration slogans in the morning hours and blocked Khanabal Pahalgam Road.
However, some officials of education department had inspected these coaching centres and found government teachers were still teaching at these private tuition centers.
Students from various coaching centres told Kashmir observer: We are not happy with this decision as they we have been made to pay the fees in advance. We have paid all the dues to the coaching centres and now government is closing them.
Our career is on stake and by this it is our precious time that is being wasted, said Imran Rasheed a student.
According to the teachers teaching at these tuition centres, its the students who compel them to run the coaching classes.
Students force us to operate these coaching classes, a government teacher wishing not to be named said. We are experienced in the field from past several years. Students are unable to find competent teachers so we get compelled.
According to him barring them from teaching at the coaching centres is disallowing students from getting quality education.
Meanwhile sources told Kashmir observer that mostly government teachers are running coaching centres in the district, and the authorities have failed to take action against these government teachers.
Similar complaints have been received from districts like Shopian, Kulgam and Tral about government teachers teaching in coaching centres. Sources said that in violation of rules, the government teachers are running these coaching centres from rented rooms built on shops that fall on roadsides, which are centres of noise from traffic, and also lacking heating and seating facilities. Besides violating law, no facilities of heating and seating are provided at these coaching centres, sources added.
Meanwhile, CEO Mushtaq Ahmad Salroo said that no coaching centre will be allowed in the district by government teachers. We will make sure that government teachers are barred from private teaching in valley and we will take action those govt teachers who violate the government instructions.
