Srinagar: Amid pro-freedom and pro-Pakistant slogans, Separatist Leaders led by Nayeem Ahmed Khan Wednesday staged a massive protest demanding immediate disbanding of Village Defence Committees in Jammu region. The protest was organized by different constituents of Geelani led Hurriyat(G) in which scores of Separatist Leaders including Muhammad Yousuf Naqash, Firdous Ahmed Shah, Imtiyaz Hyder, Abdul Ahad Parra and others participated.
Led by Hurriyat Conference (G) Jammu region head and Chairperson of National Front, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, the protestors demanded immediate halt to actions and disbanding of government militia in Jammu province.
The protesters carrying placards and banners chanted pro-freedom and pro-Pakistan slogans, while police detained many of them including Nayeem Ahmed Khan when they tried to march towards city centre Lal Chowk.
While talking to reporters, Khan said that hundreds of criminal and murder cases stand registered against state sponsored VDC members in Jammu region.
Sympathizing with Jammu Muslims, Khan alleged that this militia has been created to terrorize the Muslim community in Chenab and Pir Panjal valleys. The recent killing of three persons including a minor in Rajouri is an eye opener of the high handedness of VDCs. The force should be disbanded immediately, he said.
These VDC members are the real terrorists patronized by the State and Central Government. They are groups of criminals and communal elements. They are involved in rapes, killings, loot, arson, abduction, theft, domestic violence and state itself has registered 176 FIRs against them, he said.
