Jammu: Days after Jammu and Kashmir High Court directed the State government to hoist the state flag along with the Indian flag, on all official buildings and vehicles of constitutional authorities, Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh in an apparent snub to the court directions Wednesday said that no flag can be hoisted at equal level to the national flag.
Replying to question, Singh said that, all I can say is that no flag can be levelled equal to the national flag. It is a decision of the High Court. It is legal matter and it shall be dealt legally. National flag would be respected and that is our endeavour, adding I have not talked in this regard with anybody and BJP has a stand. We should act accordingly.
Singh who recently supported the continuation of Village Defence Committees and in the past opposed the bovine killings in Jammu region was talking to reporters in winter capital Jammu.
Meanwhile, Bhim Singh led National Panthers Party staged a protest against State government at Exhibition Ground Jammu alleging that Court had given its ruling on the basis of materials provided by the state government. The Panthers Party leader including Harsh Dev Singh and Yashpal Kundal who led the protest accused BJP of playing to the galleries of Peoples Democratic Party. BJP has been enjoying power in Jammu and Kashmir and it has completely submitted before its coalition partner. Be it the flag or Article 370 issues, BJP took U-turn just to stick to power, Harsh Dev Singh said adding that BJP needs to answer to people what prompted it to subscribe to the PDP, NC and separatists slogan of Do Nishan and Do Vidhan in the state.
