JAMMU- Tourism Department is all set to organize Winter Carnival on mega scale at Patnitop shortly. The decision in this regard was taken in a meeting held at Jammu today under the chairmanship of Director Tourism, Jammu R.K. Verma.
During course of the meeting, extensive deliberations were held with regards to organizing the winter carnival at picturesque hill resort of Patnitop. Aim of the meeting was to have direct interaction with stake holders so that more and more tourists visit this place and enjoy the bounties of nature. Mr. Verma said.
Number of activities would be organized in a weeklong event at Patnitop and Nathatop for adventure loving tourists. Activities like fun skiing, fun sledging, tug of war, fun games, snow man building competition, winter games, musical and cultural programmes etc would be held on daily basis. Besides this food festival of ethnic cuisines of J&K and exhibitions stalls showcasing handicraft, handloom, horticulture, floriculture and other famous domestic products will also be organized. he further added.
Members present in the meeting were of the view that organizing such events would go a long way to attract tourists to the picturesque tourist destination of Patnitop.
It was decided in the meeting that to attract more and more tourists to the upcoming event, wide publicity at National level especially in neighbouring states like Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, H.P be targeted vigorously through electronic, print and social media.
Hotel Association Jammu, Patnitop and Bhaderwah announced flat 30% discount on their accommodations to the visiting tourists during the winter carnival.
Meeting was attended by CEO Patnitop Development Authority R.K Sarangal, Dy.Director Tourism, Publicity Er. S.K. Attri, Dy. Dir Handloom Dr. Subash Dogra, GM JKTDC Anju Gupta, Dy. Director Academy of Art, culture and languages , Kuldeep Wahi, Kushal Magotra, Lavnesh Sathe, Jatinder Singh, B B Kotwal, Tariq Choudhary, Abhay Bakaya and Amreek Singh from travel trade .
