Ganderbal : The increasing number of stray dogs in this Ganderbal district have become a cause of grave concern for the inhabitants of the district.
According to the residents, herds of dogs are seen on the prowl at various areas of the district including busy markets of Beehama, Duderhama , Safapora, Lar, Manigam, Kangan, Ganniwan and Gund .
The residents told the Kashmir Observer that dogs are posing a grave threat to the life of people adding the movement of people, especially children, elders and women has become difficult during morning and evening hours.
There has been drastic increase in the canine population in the district, which has become a matter of huge concern for the people, especially the parents of children, rued locals.
Keeping in view the dog menace, I will have to accompany my child to the educational institution everyday, a mother of a student from Kangan said adding the problem has assumed a serious dimensions with concerned authorities turning a deaf ear to the public outcry.
Some residents also alleged that the mysterious rise in dog population was due to their transportation from urban areas during night hours there.
Meanwhile the residents of Ganderbal district have appealed the concerned authorities to tackle the menace at an earliest for the convenience of the people.
