Srinagar: Commenting over the statement of Indian External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Vikas Swarup that Hurriyat Conference had no role in the dialogue process between India and Pakistan, Hurriyat Conference (G) Friday said that the basic issue between the two countries was the Kashmir problem and not any border dispute.
The issue is of the future of 15 million human beings living in the region and this issue cant be solved without respecting the wishes and aspirations of its people, Hurriyat chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani said. We cant support the ongoing dialogue between the two countries if the Kashmir leadership is left out.
The octogenarian leader said that any solution to the Kashmir dispute imposed upon the Kashmiri people will in no way be acceptable to us. Kashmiri nation will resist any such move at every level, he said. We are not begging for inclusion in the talks but we want to clarify that Kashmiri people are not cattle or animals who can be driven against their will.
We are struggling from last seven decades for our right to self determination and we have sacrificed everything in this struggle, he said. We will continue to give sacrifices for this sacred cause but we will not surrender our aspirations and sacrifices.
