SRINAGAR: The State Vigilance Commission has directed the Director General of Police for registration of a formal case in an underage appointment case, unearthed in the Police Department.
Earlier, the Commission while taking notice of a complaint against Atta Mohammad working in IRP 9th Battalion, Miatra Ramban, had called a factual report from Commandant IRP 9th Battalion after thorough enquiry.
The report discloses that the said official had been appointed in the year 1985, whereas his Date of Birth as per the documents furnished by the said Commandant alongwith the report was April 01, 1969, where from it is prima-facie established that the said official at the time of appointment was not of the age as prescribed by the Government for appointment in Police Department i.e. 18 years.
Further, there is no document on record suggesting that any relaxation of age had been granted in the instant case by the competent authority, SVC said in a statement.
As the allegations levelled in the complaint stand substantiated, the Commission has directed the Director General of Police for registration of formal case in the matter and ensure necessary action as warranted under law is completed early.
