Shopian: Accusing Army of murdering their sole bread earner, a family from South Kashmirs Shopian district took to streets after Zahoor Ahmed Sheikh a shopkeeper by forte breathed his last on Tuesday.
Muhammad Maqbool Sheikh the father of Zahoor Ahmed a resident of Heerpora Shopian told CNS that his 29 year old son received severe electric shocks after army personnel from 144 RR forced him to climb on an electric pole to restore electricity to their camp to their camp on December 19, 2014. Zahoor was picked up by Army from his shop and was made to climb on the pole. He received electric shock and felt down. The Army personnel fled from the spot leaving Zahoor in the middle of the road, Maqbool said.
He said that Zahoor was crippled after developing an injury in spinal cord. He was lying in bed from past one year and today he breathed his last, he said and alleged that despite registering complaint against the army men responsible for the incident, the response from Army officers was cold. Zahoor was murdered by army and they should be booked, he said.
The family members alleged that police did not bother to register an FIR even though they used to visit police chowki on daily basis. We want a murder case should be registered against the guilty army men who have shifted from Heerpora camp to Ahgam Army camp Pulwama. (CNS)
