NEW DELHI: The Delhi police have arrested a retired Army havildar for alleged espionage. “Khan was on payroll of ISI, which was depositing money into his accounts from different countries using its resources and contacts in Gulf”, they claimed, adding Khan might have been paying a part of this amount to Rashid, who was posted in the intelligence wing in Rajouri. He was booked under provisions of the Officials Secrets Act, said a senior police official.
“He has been produced earlier than the involved courtroom in M&U for looking for his transit remand for bringing him to Delhi for additional interrogation”.
He was found to be in direct contact with the Pakistan intelligence operative, Faisal, and had cultivated an Army man named Fareed to provide information.Faisal was the handler of Khan and another accused in the case, BSF solider Abdul Rasheed.
In its ongoing probe in the recently busted Pakistani spy racket, Delhi Police has arrested another person, an officer said on Friday. A search yielded “a few documents having implication on national security”, police had said.
However, the police haven’t yet been able to trace the “source” in the office of the Pakistan High Commission here who was to meet Khan and facilitate the the procurement of a Visa, on which Khan was to travel to Pakistan and avail training and more resources from ISI operatives there in connection with the espionage racket.
While Rasheed was intercepted by a police in New Delhi Railway Station on November 26 while he was on his way to Bhopal to attend a religious congregation and allegedly scout for recruits, Rasheed was arrested following a raid at Rajouri district on Sunday.
