Srinagar: After Parvez Rasool, another young cricketer hailing from a far flung area of Kashmir Valley is making a mark with his terrific performance in the ongoing national tournament at Rajkot in Gujarat.
Aaqib Nabi Dar, who hails from Sheeri Baramulla, currently playing under 19 national cricket tournament at Rajkot has topped in the matches played in this tournament.
Aaqib who has been selected from Kashmirs under 19 cricket team has scored 103 runs and got two wickets against Sourashtra on Monday.
A young cricketer, who is pursuing graduation at Baramulla has earlier scored several centuries in the tournaments played outside the state. It is Aaqibs fourth century since he started playing nationals. We are feeling proud of him, overwhelmed with joy family said.
Aaqib with his brilliant performance was selected by Baramulla Cricket Association in 2011. He scored fifty in last match played at DGM College Jammu and got four wickets against Hyderabad team, family said.
Sharing details, family sources said Aqib hails from a humble background and began his cricketing career from a very young age by playing with his mates in the streets of his locality. He later played several tournaments in the Valley where he has got various trophies including for, man of the match, man of the series and catch of the match, they said. KNS
