SRINAGAR: JAKEDA in association with Government Womens Polytechnic, Srinagar today launched a three month Solar Technician training programme at Govt. Womens Polytechnic, Bemina, Srinagar.
The programme named as Suryamitra Skill Development is sponsored by the National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE), Union Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) at an estimated cost of Rs. 12.84 Lakh, with JAKEDA as the nodal agency.
The programme envisages training of 30 candidates, selected through open advertisement, on merit, to produce Solar Technicians who could find employment in solar energy sector within and outside the state. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Executive Officer, JAKEDA highlighted significance of the training programme and informed participants that the 90 day training would cover theoretical and practical aspects of solar energy engineering. He expressed optimism about employment opportunities for solar technicians in upcoming large solar power projects in the state.
Principal Govt. Womens Polytechnic, Srinagar also spoke on the occasion. The inaugural session of the programme was attended by officers of JAKEDA and faculty of the Govt. Womens Polytechnic Bemina Srinagar.
