JAMMU: Mr. Bulat Sarsenbayev, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of India, called on Governor N.N. Vohra here at the Raj Bhavan today.
During their hour long meeting, the Governor and the Ambassador discussed various issues relating to the establishment of strong bi-lateral cultural, economic and defence cooperation between the two countries. The Governor suggested to the Ambassador to explore the possibility of early setting up direct air link between the Kazakh capital and Srinagar via Leh as such connectivity will promote both tourism and economic links. He also suggested the usefulness of collaborative linkages between the Centre for Central Asian Studies in Kashmir University with a corresponding institution in Kazakhstan, with a particular focus on the study of languages.
The Governor invited the Ambassador to make a longer visit during summer, to also see the Valley.
